Project Manager & Member of the FA’s Infrastructure Committee, Icelandic FA
Thorbergur Karlsson has worked as a consultant engineer for about 40 years, mostly as a project manager of various large and challenging projects both in Iceland and in Norway. Among those projects are many sports facilities. Thorbergur has been a member of Iceland FA’s Infrastructure Committee since its establishment in 1989 and an active participant in the committee’s work on the strategic development of soccer facilities in Iceland, such as artificial grass fields, soccer buildings and stadiums. In the years 1999-2000 he worked as a consultant for the construction of Iceland’s first indoor soccer field, a building that paved the way for the later development of soccer facilities in Iceland. Thorbergur has also been active in the work of one of Iceland’s major sports clubs, Breidablik, including being a member of its board, a chairman of the club’s soccer department and a chairman of it’s basketball division.
