Global Women’s Football Expert, former Deputy Director of Women’s Football, FIFA
Tatjana Haenni started her amateur football playing career in Switzerland in 1979. She played 23 international women’s matches for the Swiss Women’s National Team. Since 2005 she acts on a voluntary basis as the President of FC Zürich Frauen. In 2016 she became a board member of the Football Association of the Region of Zurich (FVRZ) and a member of the European Club Association (ECA) Women’s Football Committee.
In her professional life, she joined UEFA in 1994. After that she worked for a year for SAT.1 Switzerland TV (live football show) and in 1999 she joined FIFA. During her time at FIFA, she was involved in all women’s football development matters and in charge of the Technical Study Groups at the FIFA Women’s World Cups, women and youth events. Later, she was the driver behind key women’s football activities, such as regional workshops, development seminars, the women’s international calendar and the women’s world ranking list.
In 2008, she moved from the Development to the Competitions Division. As the Deputy Director of the Division and the Head of Women’s Competitions she was in charge of the organisational aspects and the project leader for all FIFA Women’s World Cups (2011 in Germany and 2015 in Canada) and all women’s youth competitions, including conducting the official draws. Also, she was overseeing the FIFA Women’s Football Symposiums, the FIFA Women’s Football Task Force, the FIFA Women’s International Match Calendar and the three different FIFA Women’s Football Committees. She then worked as a Consultant for Y Sport, an agency specialized in developing valuable partnerships between sport and brands, and on October 1st 2018, she joined the Swiss Football Association as the Head of Women’s Football. Currently she is also attending the Sport Management MBA 2017-2019 at the University of Bayreuth (Germany).
